Investment opportunities
We assist members of the community who want to foster the expansion of renewable energy in Australia. We do this by setting up projects ready for local investment.
Just get in touch with us and we will email you when a new project is ready for investment. We will send you the full details of each project and if you think you might like to invest in that project let us know and we will send out a comprehensive information memorandum with details of the likely return and the minimum investment. We will then be available to discuss the project in further with you.
We have begun to develop a number of projects for investment. If you wish to have early advice on these investment options, email us now to go on to our mailing list on a no-commitment basis. We will treat your interest confidentially.
Expressions of interest invited
We have developed a proposal in conjunction with Mitchell Shire Council to install 99 kW of solar panels on the roof of the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre, at a cost of about $120,000. This would save ratepayers about $30,000 per annum in power costs and we have proposed to Council that we obtain the funds from the community to loan to Council to install the system.
Council has, not unreasonably, come back with: "Council wishes to confirm the likelihood of MCE being able to fund the initial $120,000 and the timeframes around this.” Frankly, we don’t really know. We have been proceeding on the basis of similar projects in other communities being successfully subscribed in days, or even hours. Whenever we speak to individuals or groups around here about the concept there has been keen interest and support. But we need to test the level of support.
We aim to involve local people in all aspects of the project and the funding will be subject to appropriate financial regulation and oversight.
To manage the finances of projects a “Special Purpose Vehicle” will have to be set up. This will probably be in the form of a co-operative, which can have an unlimited number of members and can promote an unlimited number of projects. The investment that can be made by each member in any project can vary from whatever minimum is decided, say $500, to a maximum of 20% of the project value, which in the case of the SSAC would be $24,000.
We can’t promise high rates of return but we do commit to providing a return better than current bank rates.
This is a survey without any commitment to get a sense of what interest is out there in investing for a sustainable future.
Would you please let us know whether you would wish to invest, and if possible give us some indication, A, B or C, or what level that might be. Your no commitment response will be treated in strict confidence.
A. $500 - $2000
B. $2000-$6000
C. Above $6000
